I. The boring stuff
This FAQ is written by Galactus, to help
readers (especially new readers) of this group in answering any questions
they might have about this group. I do not claim any authority over the
group, nor is this FAQ somehow an "official" document. It's all purely
advisory. I do not intend to enforce any of the guidelines in this document.
And lastly, I don't want any authority over the group, I'm
just trying to be helpful. If others appear to claim authority over this or
any other group, it's their problem.
The FAQ will be posted to alt.binaries.pictures.boys approximately
once a week.
The FAQ is also available on the World Wide Web at

II. Introduction to alt.binaries.pictures.boys
Alt.binaries.pictures.boys is intended for the posting of, and discussion
about, NON-PORNOGRAPHIC pictures (scanned images or video captures) of boys.
Pornographic pictures are defined as visual depictions of sexual activity.
If you want to post or download pornographic pictures, I suggest you go
to the groups in the existing alt.binaries.pictures.erotica.* hierarchy
(for example, alt.binaries.pictures.erotica.teen.male).
Please do not post pornographic pictures in this group. Not only do you
endanger the group by doing so, but you may also get yourself in trouble.
You will be warned in e-mail not to do it again if you post such pictures,
and repeated offenders may be reported to their sysadmins.
Also - you should know this yourself - this kind of pictures are
illegal to spread or only to own in most countries and you may be fined
for posting such pictures, also when you use remailers there is no
final protection for yourself if you violate against your local laws.
Also the posting of pornographic pictures at this newsgroup will
finally force more providers to just not to carry this group at their
newsservers.
So please think twice.
Posting pictures involving nudity is allowed, although you might want
to consider posting them to alt.binaries.pictures.nudism and posting a
note here telling us that you posted them there. If you post such a
picture here, make sure you put "nude" in the subject line.
Pictures of known teen idols should go to alt.binaries.pictures.teen-idols.
Discussion about these pictures is allowed in the group, since there is
no separate discussion group for this purpose. If you want to start a
discussion that is not directly related to these pictures, please consider
other groups that may be more suited for your purpose.
In general, it is sufficient to send a note back to the poster saying
you don't like large crossposts (usually over five groups at once) or
advertisements in alt.binaries.pictures.boys. DO NOT mailbomb him!
Just send a small note, if everybody does it he'll get the message.
If this person keeps posting, or if you think the offense warrants more
serious action, send a copy of the message (including all headers) to
the postmaster. The postmaster can be reached at account 'postmaster' or
'usenet' at the site the article came from. For example, my postmaster
can be reached at postmaster@stack.nl. Don't forget to tell him
why you object to this message.
If you encounter the same message in a large number of groups (over 10
groups), you should go to news.admin.net-abuse.announce and/or
news.admin.net-abuse.misc and see if it has been reported there. If it
hasn't, repost a copy of the article (again, with all headers) with a
list of the groups you saw it in to that group.
Followups in the group are usually not necessary. Especially when it
is a large crosspost, a followup will serve no purpose. If you MUST
follow up, make sure you trim the Newsgroups: line and/or add a
Followup-To: header pointing to a more appropriate group (alt.dev.null
for example).
Nowhere, as far as I can tell.
Note: If you maintain a site with pictures of this group, please tell me
and I'll include your site here.
III. Technical stuff
This question would take so long to answer, that there is a separate

Make sure that the subject line of your post contains the name of
the file, optionally the size (in pixels) of the picture and a short
description. Keep in mind that you use the keyword "nude" when
appropriate. And don't forget the part number!
Additionally, it has become almost universally accepted that pictures be
accompanied by a 'part 0' article that gives a more detailed description
of the picture than was included in the subject line. Under no
circumstance should 'part 0' contain any encoded data. If you don't have
a description, then don't post a 'part 0'. An empty 'part 0' is rather
pointless.
If you split your picture in multiple parts, make sure to number each
part correctly. When there are more than 9 parts, use a leading '0'
for numbers below 10, eg. "part 01/12" so that newsreaders can sort
the articles correctly.
You can (if you are using a SLIP or PPP connection)
try to hide some personal information in your newsreader or posting
software, for example by modifying the From: line, but this is usually
a violation of your contract with your Internet provider.
A more useful option is the use of anonymous remailers. For information
on how to use those, see my (Galactus)
remailer information page. It contains links to a lot of useful pages.
Keep in mind that due to the volume of binaries some remailers may not
allow posting to binaries groups. If you post too many pictures through
a remailer, the operator may block the group.
Feel free to mail me if you have comments
or suggestions for this FAQ. If you think they are important enough, you
can also post your suggestions in the group so others can comment on them
as well.
